Jan 1995 - May 2007Lanham, Md, UsRan the systems engineering research group bringing in, managing and contributing to programs focused on control system design and signal processing including programs ranging from gas turbine engine health monitoring and model based controllers for steel galvanizing lines to shipboard power systems. - Funded by NSF and NASA, developed a turbine engine health monitoring and control system based on eddy current sensors (ECS) housed in the engine casing for blade tip monitoring. Developed and patented new signal processing techniques for the analysis of eddy current sensor data for gas turbine engine blade diagnostics. Methods used ECS based measurements as indicators of stall, vibration and blade crack detection in conjunction with active control. Two patents held for these algorithms. - Leveraged NSF SBIR funding on integrated diagnostics tools for industrial systems to win competitive bid for installation of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system at US Mint coining facilities in Denver and Philadelphia. Managed the development and installation of the system.
