In private practice at BakerHostetler, I represent corporations and individuals in high-stakes litigation and corporate investigations, white collar defense, federal and state government inquiries, and Title IX investigations. I also maintain an active commercial litigation practice, routinely handling bet-the-company contract disputes, trade secrets litigation, False Claims Act litigation, products liability, and securities litigation. Prior to becoming the United States Attorney, I was the first woman to serve as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. During my tenure as both the United States Attorney and the First Assistant U.S. Attorney, I supervised and personally handled high-profile, crisis-level litigation, much of which involved intense public and media scrutiny. As the chief federal law enforcement officer, I enforced a wide range of criminal and civil statutes. I also oversaw and personally handled high-profile civil litigation, including as lead counsel on the Consent Decree providing comprehensive reform for the Cleveland Division of Police. In my 30+ year career, I’ve been involved in nearly every type of criminal, civil and regulatory investigation, serving as counsel on different sides.
