Profile bio

About Carole Stapper

I am a self-starter and life-long learner who went back to school to earn a Mechanical Engineering degree, which provided me with the skills needed to launch a career in environmental compliance. My path began as a consultant, where I led numerous regulatory compliance programs and air quality permitting projects. While I have worked with various industry sectors, my niche quickly became the forest products industry. Ten years ago I was able to transition from consulting to industry, which proved to be both challenging and rewarding as I continued to learn, gaining a better understanding of manufacturing operations.I am a detail-oriented person, striving for environmental excellence by helping my facilities understand their air regulatory requirements and how to meet them, while trying to minimize the burden of any new requirements. I am able to build the necessary relationships to ensure all stakeholders are achieving their goals while maintaining compliance. I have been successful in reducing the facility compliance burden by eliminating unnecessary permit requirements and adding operating flexibility.I am a strategic thinker and am motivated to find solutions to existing and emerging complex compliance requirements. I have formed good working relationships with industry peers and have participated in stakeholder groups to provide feedback to regulators to help shape future rulemaking and policy.I believe it is important to understand not only what you are doing, but why you are doing it. As a result, I share my knowledge and expertise through one-on-on interactions as well as formal training programs. I have had the privilege to mentor more junior staff, many of whom are now providing senior compliance leadership at their respective firms.I am ready for the next opportunity to work with an organization where I can continue to learn while using my skills to contribute to their success.
