Senior RA with AidData's Tracking Under-reported Financial Flows (TUFF) team, using open-source material to track Official Chinese financial flows to foreign governments and institutions.- Utilized bilingual (Mandarin and English) open-source research to extract and analyze data on loan disbursements, development assistance, foreign direct investment (FDI), and other financial activities of Chinese institutions engaged overseas.- Compiled comprehensive financial reports outlining financial terms and project impact, including research on financial risk, market conditions, planned and realized disbursement, social & economic sustainability, and local economic impact. - Performed multi-tiered quality assurance to ensure the accuracy and completeness of over 70 variables. Coded data according to OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) standards for development finance flows, ensuring consistency and transparency. At AidData, our dataset extends beyond officially-funded loans to include commercial aid, FDI, and other flow classes. This breadth, combined with the comprehensive detail ensured by the TUFF 2.0 methodology, provides policy-makers with a nuanced and objective tool for assessing the conditions of Chinese finance.
