She founded a global movement called "Beach Cleanup for 5 Minutes" that has inspired thousands of people around the world to clean up beaches and change their consumption habits and has inspired thousands of people to start their own mission to help the environment and oceans.     Carolina Sevilla is a Costa Rican, lawyer, specialist in Human Rights and a career diplomat who worked in the United Nations for three years during the term that Costa Rica was on the Security Council and who served as Consul of Costa Rica in New York City. In parallel, she founded her own global movement: 5 Minute Beach Cleanup; an educational and interactive campaign on social networks with a simple message: invite everyone to clean the beach for five minutes and thus collaborate with the problem of plastic and garbage in our oceans. The initiative has been highly successful as it is a 100% collaborative and interactive project since it is powered by the same people or heroes. The movement has inspired people to perform more than 28,000 individual cleanups accounted through their hashtag. As a grassroots initiative, it also became known globally thanks to several videos that went viral and have been viewed by more than 20 million people.They have been featured on BBC News, on CGTN, she has collaborated with The Economist, and has appeared in more than 20 videos media companies / platforms such as: Make a Change World, AJ + (Al Jazeera Media Network), Athleta, and BRUT, ULYCES, Bright Vives, Kombini.She started a non-profit organization "5MBCF¨ and here, they have national and international campaigns and programs. One of them, "Ocean Heroes", has been adopted by The Clinton Foundation in New York. The program has already been implemented in Costa Rica and has impacted more than 1,000 students. They also created a national campaign to launch in 2020 to raise awareness on the use, disposal and recycling of cigarette butts, in alliance with Philip Morris International,the Municipality of Belen and University of CR. "Friends of the Ocean" is a sustainable tourism is a project and certification for hotels and restaurants plastic free, with stations that help recover plastic to then transform this into designed items.
