Because what we do stems from our identity and experiences, I would like to add some of the things I’ve learned from this expat life:I’ve realized that both joy and suffering are universal feelings, although the way they are shared and expressed has a lot to do with a person’s cultural background.I was surprised when redefining change as an opportunity for learning, as well as defiance and relief from old rigidities.I found out that stepping out of my Argentine comfort zone opened up a thousand new ways to face and understand life.I also found myself meeting people with different accents, races, religions and nationalities, which introduced me to a humble way of listening, with tolerance and respect.I discovered contrasting realities, extravagant wealth, extreme poverty, and social demonstrations that made me feel part of every country I lived in.And today I no longer feel like that psychologist and coach that left Argentina. I carry with me some of the Swiss accuracy, the Colombian music, Costa Rican nature, the Chilean mountains and the Brazilian energy enrich my senses and perception, which aid in deepening connections with others.
