Growing up, books became my everything. You open the world up to someone when you teach them to read and love learning. In the Peace Corps, I taught English to kids in Mongolia. From that experience, I knew my mission was to serve children and support literacy and academic growth. I returned to the US and became an elementary school teacher. Then, I became an academic counselor working primarily with ADHD students. The idea of starting a bookmobile began to form when I realized that so many underserved kids need access to books. I wanted to make a meaningful difference, so I launched this nonprofit to advance literacy, bought the trailer, and traveled throughout the region, bringing free book access to the underserved populations here in DeKalb County.
