Dr. Alquist is a triple-boarded transfusion medicine and histocompatibility pathologist, uniquely invested in the intersection of transplant services and transfusion medicine. She serves as Hoxworth Blood Center’s Interim Co-Director, Chief Transplant & Cellular Therapies Officer, director of their mobile and fixed site Apheresis Division, Interim Director for their Cellular Therapies Division, and Cincinnati’s only active ASHI-accredited HLA Director for their Transplantation Immunology Division to support all regional solid organ transplant and cellular therapy operations. She is actively involved in ASFA, a national association of apheresis professionals; ASHI, a national society of histocompatibility specialists; College of American Pathologists; the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN); and AABB, an international transfusion medicine and cellular therapy organization. Dr. Alquist is committed to scholarly work to enhance the practice of medicine. She contributes regularly to transplant and transfusion standards of care, serving on the writing committee for the 2023 and upcoming 2026 ASFA apheresis guidelines, an evidence-based reference document used internationally for clinical decision-making.
