In 2016 I started my own small freelancing business out of my garage, where I began repainting old furniture and selling it to clients. I also travel to clients' homes to refinish and repaint pieces they would like redone. From this business I have learned many useful skills, such as budgeting time and cost of materials to refinish and sell my furniture for profit, negotiating with clients to maximize profit, and developing creative solutions to satisfy customer needs.

In my role as a Retail Sales Associate at Madewell, I was tasked with several things that centered around maximizing customer satisfaction. I engaged with customers to identify ideal fit and style to increase sales, collaborated with my team members to revamp the sales floor to improve customer engagement, and also counted inventory manually and electronically to accurately record merchandise data. My firsthand experience with customer service will help me in any future role.

My role at this small antique shop taught me many valuable skills. For one, it was important for me to effectively communicate with customers to understand their needs and taste. I also worked individually and collaboratively on projects regarding overall operations of the store, and learned and operated new POS system
