Caroline is the Founder of Colander Associates, a consultancy that bridges the divide between real estate clients and their consultants. She is also a ceramicist.Colander Associates works with architects, landscape architects, designers and engineers to help them run effective, creative businesses; it also works with real estate clients to help them identify and work with the best design teams for their projects. Caroline has inspired many of the UK’s most successful architectural practices - including a number of Stirling Prize winner - to develop their businesses, and worked alongside some of the most influential developers and building owners in the land. She has been making ceramics since 2012. Her work has been features in German Vogue and the Wall Street International Magazine, and is held in private collections in the UK, Hong Kong, Spain and the USA.Caroline is a Trustee of the Ove Arup Foundation, a Trustee of the Horniman Museum, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, an Honorary Fellow of the RIBA and a Professor at IE University in Madrid. She also sits on the HS2 Design Review Panel and is a Freeman of the City of London.Building on her commitment to integrated design, Caroline set up the Equilibrium Network, an inter-disciplinary group working across the built environment to help increase gender diversity at senior level across the industry.Caroline has judged the RIBA Manser Medal, the Design Week Awards, the RIBA Awards, the AJ Top 100 Awards and the Inspire Awards that recognise women in the built environment. Specialties: Business management that allows creative people to exceed their potential. Enabling design that is good enough to exceed clients' expectations.Ceramics

Ceramic ArtistCaroline Cole Ceramics Jan 2012 - PresentLondon UkI work as a ceramic artist. My work explores relationships between shape, colour and light, using geometries to bring order to their potentially chaotic interactions. The shapes I create have symmetry to soothe the senses, but are embellished with twists to change perspectives; the colours I use generate patterns that create movement and 3D effects; and the textures I make engender luminous qualities responsive to changing light. The combinations are endless and the nirvana of perfection is unattainable but the hope is to offer work that is both intriguing and joyful. Each ceramic piece is unique Visits to my studio are by arrangement. My work is for sale and I regularly undertakes commissions; my pots are in private collections in the USA, Hong Kong, mainland Europe, Australia and the United Kingdom. In March 2023 I presented my first solo show at the OXO Gallery on London’s South Bank.

MemberThe Edge 2011 - PresentLondon, United KingdomThe Edge is a campaigning built-environment think tank and is multi-disciplinary in a landscape that is remarkable for the high number of single-discipline institutions it contains. The Edge Debate is a process of thinking about how the built environment could be better. It involves the ‘why’, ‘what’, and ‘where’ questions.WHERE are we headed as an economy, as a society and as a polity and does our built environment help us or hinder us?WHAT can we afford to build with the ever-diminishing amounts of carbon to which we are entitled?WHY haven’t we been able to improve the built environment in the ways we know we should have: such as energy performance, simplified building and planning regulations, inter-institutional working, appropriate R&D investment and dealing with waste?

Head Of Clients' Advisory ServiceRoyal Institute Of British Architects 1995 - 1999Part time position at the RIBA as Head of Client Communications, looking after the Clients' Advisory Service and the Competitions Office. Sponsored by the Crown Estate, I undertook a review of these services culminating in a business plan which developed the established core services and introduced a number of new initiatives and documents based on client requirements. As a result, enquiries to the RIBA nomination service from clients with projects over £500,000 increased by 50% in 1996, while the turnover of the Competitions Office more than doubled. In addition, seven Client Forums were established, in Health, Housing, Higher Education, Further Education, Schools and Sports & Leisure, creating a unique opportunity for clients to discuss the built environment and instigate seminars, workshops, research papers and publications as appropriate. It was agreed in December 1999 that the Clients’ Advisory Service had grown sufficiently large to warrant a full time manager and, following the completion of a new 3 year business plan, I handed the service over to a full time employee.
