I am a fourth year Physiological Science major and Geography/Environmental Studies minor at UCLA. I am looking to gain experience in physiological science research and in public health. As the child of a chronically ill single mother, I have seen firsthand what a profound impact the healthcare system has on people’s lives, for better or for worse. The system has many barriers to receiving care, and many issues, especially chronic illnesses, are not taken seriously enough. I want to contribute to improving healthcare in any way possible, whether that is working in public health to improve accessibility, or working in medical research to create new treatment solutions for chronically ill patients.I have spent six years in education, working as a tutor and teaching assistant at multiple organizations. These roles have given me very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to break down and communicate complex information to others. I also have a strong background in writing, statistics, and biological sciences. I am an independent worker who can take on a variety of roles with minimal training, and hope to work for an organization that values communication and precision.
