2012-2014, London: Prosecutor v Sayedee; Chowdhury; Nizami; Azam; Kamaruzzaman; Mujahid; Molla; Quasem Ali, International Crimes Tribunal, Bangladesh (ICT). Junior on a series of cases led by Steven Kay QC in which Bangladeshi political figures were charged with crimes against humanity and genocide by the ICT. Work included evidence handling and analysis; legal research into the 1971 definition of offences; daily trial submissions; applications to the court and responses to the Prosecutions applications; drafting the final trial briefs and all the communications to the Human Rights Committee (HRC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN-OHCHR).Sep 2013, Paris: The Prosecutor v Callixte Nzabonimana, International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Assisted lead counsel Maître Vincent Courcelle-Labrousse on the appeal by Mr Nzabonimana before the ICTR and on cases before French domestic courts. 2013: Instructed by the Sri Lankan Young Lawyers Association to write a report on the impeachment of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Dr Shirani Bandaranyake, who was subsequently removed from office by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.2012: Turkey v Nazera Yawar. Advised the Democratic Progress Initiative on the admissibility and the merits before the HRC of the case of an Iraqi Kurdish man who was shot by the Turkish security forces. 2012: Speaker at a summit of Tunisian MPs responsible for the drafting of the new Constitution. Invited to address MPs on human rights.Draft communications and advice on various matters relating to breaches of human rights. Experience in drafting communications to various bodies of the UN-OHCHR, notably the Working Groups, the offices of the Special Rapporteurs and the Human Rights Committee (HRC). Advise on the admissibility and the merits of cases before the HRC; on breaches of standards of fairness and procedure.

Disclosure Counsel on a case into the collapse of the Fund following a fraudulent scheme to divert money for the benefit of the Defendants charged with offences under the Companies Act 2006, Fraud Act 2006, and Proceeds of Crimes Act 2002.Sep 2019 - Feb 2020: Unaoil (SFO). LPP counsel vetting evidence in a case about the bribery of public officials at Iraqi South Oil.Jan-Sep 2016: GPT Special Project Management Ltd (SFO). Highly-classified investigation into allegations of bribery and corruption. Review counsel in case against company and three individuals for alleged corruption in relation to contracts awarded to GPT; misconduct in public office; etc. Company pleaded guilty but case continues (as above) against certain individuals. Aug-Dec 2015: Investigation of traders in the G10 Spot FX market, SFOReview counsel assisting on the investigation into the behaviour of foreign currency traders in the City of London. Carried this work out alongside full-time court practice.

Worked with the Central Team in charge of liaising with foreign regulatory bodies and responsible for the review of trading behaviour at a number of firms. Selected as part of the team of four to draw up a Remediation Plan for all firms investigated. Carried this work out alongside full-time court practice.

I assisted the Judges of the Chamber with the drafting of the judgment of Prlic et al. In particular, I wrote memoranda on questions of jurisprudence and procedure for Judges Stefan Trechsel and Àrpàd Prandler, and carried lengthy analyses of the submissions of the seven parties and the admitted evidence on the events in Mostar from May 1993 to April 1994.In addition to this I was appointed as judicial assistant to Judge Àrpàd Prandler, whom I assisted in the preparation of the deliberations on the draft judgment. Case summary: The six accused, all senior political or military figures in the “Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna”, a political and territorial entity on the territory of the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are indicted for crimes against humanity, grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions and violations of the laws and customs of war as part of a joint criminal enterprise.
