LEADERSHIP & EXPERIENCEWorking at Auburn Escape Zones provided an opportunity to conduct leadership development in a unique way. Escape Rooms are an excellent platform for Team Building exercises. In order for a group to be successful and escape the room, they must work together to solve a number of different puzzles, riddles, and problems all while exhibiting effective communication skills. While working at Escape Zones I was able to lead different organizations, companies, and small-groups in activities that showcased each individual’s strengths while also addressing any weaknesses. Through the escape rooms I was able to bring teams together by motivating and encouraging collaboration rather than competition.Creating a positive rapport and breaking the ice with new people is one of the reasons I chose to study Hospitality. As a server I was known for going above and beyond to create a fun experience that catered to each table. Whether it was casually playing a game of "I Spy" to calm a table of younger kids, throwing straws across the table to entertain bored college students, or simply having a gentle and pleasant conversation with someone who has had a rough day. To me, it has always been important to find little ways to connect with people.
