I worked here during the Summer of 2014 after receiving this internship as part of a fashion award called, The International Fashion Student Award. I also received a €10 000 bursary.My personal role at Theia, entailed responsibilities such as:- Drawing beautiful and often delicate artwork onto paper patterns inspired from Don O'Neills concepts.- Creating stimulative mood boards based on the collection’s main objectives.- Selecting precious bead samples and fabric from suppliers to be matched up with chosen designs.

The duties enlisted in my job description included:- Assisting in choosing the season’s ‘Must Haves’ for our company within show-room meetings with suppliers.- Producing a well rounded opinion on matters such as fit, styling, desirability and customer market suitability.- Creating stylish cover pages in our catalogues made up of outfits I put together myself, based on seasonal themes etc.- Summarising ‘Best seller’ figures into easy-read tables on excel. - Carrying out detailed 'Price Comparison' over-views for our high street competitors to ensure a competitive price for our products.- Liaising with factories on matters such as the correct lab-dips, new changes in the garment and chasing up late orders.

During my second year of university, I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work in China, at a successful and expanding Menswear fashion company. This was an invaluable experience both work wise and culturally.My aim was to design and finalise three outfits per day, completed with fabric swatches and measurements, a lot of which actually went into production. Defining fabric and colour is something I believe I have a good eye for. In light of this, I was often asked to accompany my boss on fascinating fabric sourcing trips.I also visited highly influential factories who specialised in unique fabrics. These fabrics had interesting features such as technology properties and sustainability. Eco-friendly fabrics were made from natural products such as bamboo and milk protein etc and were also dyed using fruit.I became interested in this after seeing the different processes that they were developing in China. It is a huge factor right now and should be explored.Whilst in China, I also taught English to high school students which helped build my confidence and organisation skills.
