Located on a historic estate, the Ragdale Foundation provides artists with residencies, engages arts audiences with robust public programming, and enhances student learning through arts education programs. As Executive Director at Ragdale, I led a team of 10 employees. With the team and board, I developed a strategic plan to reopen the residency program in January 2021 with COVID-19 protocols, managed a historic 5-acre campus, and finalized plans for a new $1.8 million dance and composer studio. Focusing on driving revenue for a potential capital investment, we laid the foundation for a $6 million capital campaign, improved the annual giving program, and boosted end-of-year giving by 20%. Additionally, we streamlined online programming to improve organizational visibility and launched a new Ragdale Talks series and quarterly e-newsletter.

Chicago Artists Coalition (CAC) supports emerging Chicago artists and curators through residencies, exhibitions, grants, professional development, and digital resources.At CAC, I managed a team of four employees with whom I set a strategic vision for CAC. Together, we elevated the organization's profile by enhancing services for artists and curators, expanding program accessibility, strengthening membership value, and fostering significant philanthropic partnerships. Early in my tenure, I planned and managed the institutional merger of CAC and Chicago Artists Resource. When rising rents and a building sale necessitated a move, I secured an Arts & Culture Loan Fund award from the MacArthur Foundation and successfully implemented CAC’s first capital campaign. Exciting and innovative programming drove philanthropic investments and enabled us to launch a program of direct grants to artists.

The Chicago Humanities Festival organizes 150 annual lectures, concerts, and films in Chicago for an audience of over 50,000.I was a member of the senior leadership team and led a development team of five employees responsible for generating 85% of the $2.9 million annual operating budget through membership, major gifts, sponsorship, and institutional giving. During my tenure, I managed a feasibility study for a $6.3 million campaign. I directed the annual gala and achieved a net profit goal of $600,000. Additionally, I was the primary liaison to the board of directors and responsible for four committees - development, governance and nominating, campaign, and gala.

ACGGR was a non-profit arts council that was a regranting agency for the state of Michigan and supported arts and cultural institutions through grants, government advocacy, and education. I administered three grant programs, provided strategic support to 83 nonprofits and 51 artists, and advocated for seven counties on a local and state level. Engaged by local foundations to analyze the impact of the 2008 financial crisis on leading arts organizations. Managed a $500,000 arts marketing initiative, What’s Your Art GR?, in partnership with the Community, Frey, and Steelcase Foundations. Collaborated with nine arts organizations on ARTcation Day to bring 2,000+ students to arts education sites in downtown Grand Rapids during ArtPrize. Created an innovative event, Speed Dating for the Arts, enabling public school art teachers to leverage the education resources of Grand Rapids arts organizations.

The Art Academy of Cincinnati (AAC) is an independent college of art and design founded in 1869.As Director of Development at AAC, I was responsible for the annual fund, major gifts, and institutional giving. I joined AAC at the end of a $13.1 million capital campaign and generated $850,000 toward the public phase goal. I increased the size of the Annual Fund by 60% and the net revenue of the fundraiser by 50%. I managed development-related marketing and communications materials, including the newsletter and annual report.

The Whitney Museum of American Art presents twentieth-century and contemporary American art, with a special focus on works by living artists.At the Whitney, I was responsible for $1,000,000 in individual giving revenue and for managing three patron programs, the Chairman’s Council, the Director’s Council, and Whitney Contemporaries. I developed extensive programming with the director, board members, Council co-chairs, and curators to engage high-level donors, including visits to renowned private collections, gallery walks, studio visits, and fundraisers.
