Working for Ingenious at Heathrow Airport I wrote, edited and delivered a colleague newspaper as part of their baggage handler health and safety campaign.

Running the BAU comms activity for Yodel colleaguesImplementing some of the recommendations proposed in my previous project - the main activity being the Connected Screens project where I installed a system at 55 locations enabling content to be sent to all sites remotely. Delivering the employee forum - working with senior leaders to develop content, communication with the employee reps and measurement

I led a project to review employee communications and engagement activities for operational teams. This included running a series of focus groups with drivers and frontline colleagues to establish their wants & needs, using the data to propose actions, and implementing the agreed actions. The main action arising from the recommendations was to design and implement a new comms framework - principles for communications, channels matrix and all the associated processes, tools and templates. In addition, this work involved reviewing the comms training for frontline leaders and setting up an employee forum.I also managed the production of the internal newspaper for frontline colleagues which required a total refresh, acting on feedback received from those teams. Production involved planning the stories to be used in line with the strategy, reviewing the language and tone, and working alongside a third party agency to manage the story collation, writing and sign off process.Whilst at Yodel I was also involved in the leadership conference, collating the content for the weekly and monthly leadership calls, inputting to the company narrative to make it real for frontline colleagues, and consulting on best practice for communicating with remote workers.

Led the internal communication activity for the organisational transformation across Centrica.Developed a set framework in collaboration with HR and senior stakeholders to maintain consistency in messaging, approach and execution and create a consistent employee experience across the Group. Managed a virtual team of in-market IC leads, collaborating across geographical and functional boundaries.

Led the internal communication project team to engage the organisation in the new company values.Worked with senior business leaders and IC business partners to develop a consistent approach, which included engagement workshops and the development of a new working environment. Led a virtual team of IC and external partners to execute the working environment project across all 30+ British Gas locations in the UK, which included insight discussions, design, planning and delivery.Led the employee pride project – working with business leaders and external partners to create an inspirational film and supporting campaign, using storytelling as a method for instilling pride.

Partnered with the Managing Director of this division to put in place an IC strategy.Led the tactical planning and execution of the strategy including leadership events and online comms.Developed and delivered a company-wide communications campaign for the high-profile Energy Company Obligation (ECO) project with the aim of educating employees on our obligation and the part they play.

Partnered business leaders to develop an IC strategy, and led the tactical planning and execution of the strategy across the channels, including events and online activity.Worked with Dyno franchise owners to develop a channel strategy suitable for their specific requirements as non-direct employees. This included the annual Dyno franchisee conference.Successfully planned and executed the communications for the sale of a business and site closures.

Responsible for the planning & project management of pan-British Gas projects, collaborating across a virtual team of IC professionals, and the measurement and insight sharing for these projects.

Worked with the MD and senior leadership team to plan and deliver the annual Managing Director Awards for British Gas Services for three consecutive years. Introduced a new recognition scheme across British Gas service divisions.Developed the idea of the ‘British Gas Big Weekend’ family fun days, presented the business case to the senior leadership team and was granted a budget to deliver eight events around the country. Part of the team responsible for delivering the Employee Pride film (Everyday Experts) and submissions to the FT Best Workplaces and Sunday Times Great Places to Work lists for three consecutive years.Developed and delivered the annual Centrica engagement survey, working with our external partner and Group HR leadership team to agree questions and mechanics for delivery across all Centrica locations (UK, NA and Europe).

A key part of the team responsible for the communications strategy for remote field based teams, which included collating and distributing the monthly Team Talk information pack. I personally made significant improvements to the mechanism and quality of this through tracking and measurement.Responsible for the execution of the IC strategy across the Stockport and Leeds Service Centres.

Responsible for local recruitment for field sales, maintaining the training package for local sales adviser training (and carrying out training sessions where required), and all communications to West Field Sales.

Responsible for a team of 5 quality assistants dealing with customer complaints Handling high level complaints, escalations and attending customer properties to resolve where required

Whilst in my substantive role I also had the opportunity to work on a project for Direct Energy (part of the Centrica Group). For this project I travelled to North America to produce an employee pride film. I visited all of the divisions in North America and Canada, wrote the script, and worked with an external production company to produce and edit the film (some of which I did remotely from the UK). I attended the premier of the film at the annual franchisee conference in Florida.

Led a team of 6 on a small campsite in Brittany. Main tasks were managing the daily diary of arrivals, planning accommodation requirements, delegation of tasks, and managing a small budget.
