With Controller Radio 5 developed schedules and editorial strategy for children’s and youth output for brand new network with speech programming unique to BBC Radio at the time. Set up youth production department of 25 staff from scratch (many new to the BBC or production) which included devising multi-genre job descriptions and person specifications, liaison with unions, recruitment, selection and training. Developed 700 hours a year of drama, comedy, documentaries, live magazine programmes (lifestyle and music), live quizzes, phone ins and social action programmes.Commissioned first BBC Radio Independent Productions in the early 1990s including drawing up new contracts and terms of trade.
