• Conducted comprehensive analysis of US Government formal evaluations of 40 CARE proposals (combined value of $372 million). Using this analysis, drafted CBU’s “Why We Lose” document, suggesting how to win future USG bids. This analysis will be distributed to CARE staff in 94 countries.• Drafted portions of CBU’s new Business Development Guide which provides CARE’s global staff comprehensive guidance on pursuing USG funding.• Created and designed a comprehensive and user-friendly Sharepoint site to house and promote CBU tools and resources; this site will be accessed and used by approximately 5,000 people.• Created and designed infographics and marketing materials to promote CBU tools and resources.• Created videos and learning tools aimed at building CARE staff capacity in business development.• Organized logistics and supported the planning of the annual CBU internal workshop. The goal of the retreat was to critically assess and improve the business development process. • Managed and facilitated a team of 5 who were working on the completion of key deliverables.• Collected and analyzed data on CBU’s application of CARE’s Global Impact Indicators.• Helped to design a new After Action Review process to assess performance and identify opportunities for improvement in the proposal development process. Created a comprehensive After Action Review online survey, report and analysis templates, and conducted quarter one analysis.• Conducted research for upcoming bids, identifying potential competitors.

Created a collection of 5 digital stories of 2 Chinese residents living in DC 3 Americans who have previously lived in China, creating cultural exchange and an understanding of the experiences of living in a foreign country.Media related Courses and Projects:• Community Documentary: Combined anthropology and film while working one-on-one with member of One DC to tell his story digitally in a 5-minute long video about his fight against gentrification in DC. I also created a 5-minute documentary about my own story.• Classroom in the Wild: Created 3-minute film while staying at Wye Island in Chesapeake Bay for one week and learning aspects of making wildlife documentaries including production, camera basics, shooting, interviewing, and editing.• Backpack Documentary: Created 6-minute long documentary film about my grandfather and his influence in protecting farmland and creating the agricultural reserve in Montgomery County, MD, entitled “A Hike with Royce Hanson.” The film was shown at Montgomery County’s Environmental Film Festival.Anthropology related Courses and Projects:• Anthropological Research Design: Learned how to design research and write grant proposals. Wrote a 15-page NSF cultural anthropology grant proposal.Mandarin related Courses:• Newspaper Chinese: Analyzed and learned advanced Mandarin that is used in Newspapers and print media.

• Managed 9 VIA American service Fellows working in grass roots organizations such as Amity foundation in Nanjing, China.• Organized visas and contacts for 9 service fellows and led training and conferences in China • Interviewed 7 incoming volunteers.• Attended VIA Coordinator conference in Yangon, Myanmar.• Designed exchange programs after surveying 25 local Chinese NGOs and working with Huizeren to create programs between Huizeren and VIA to bring Americans to China and Chinese to America. • Led 9 Stanford students to Yunnan to teach entrepreneurial skills to Ethnic Minorities. • Planned all in country travel, lodging, and excursions.• Set up 3-day conference to allow 20 ethnic minority entrepreneurs to interact with 9 Stanford

• Participated in 2 weeks of TESOL training and development and design thinking workshops hosted by VIA. • Taught 6 courses per semester each with 50 students. • Created and implemented undergraduate and graduate level English courses and culture courses.

• Created team of 60 student volunteers to work with Huizeren. • Organized and updated the Huizeren English webpage.• Attended Asia Pro Bono Conference in Tokyo, Japan.
