When I was younger, I spent a lot of time writing. I read many books, and when I found a part of the book I didn’t like, I rewrote it with my own imagination. I also have a habit of also doing this in my work life. When I find something in my workplace that could be more efficient or easier, I tend to step up and make the change. I am a motivated, passionate secondary English teacher who loves designing lessons and watching her students grow. With my background in education, I had the pleasure of serving as a secondary English, Yearbook, and Journalism teacher at Philip Simmons High School this past year. I created the Journalism curriculum for the year and designed lessons for English 1 and 2, with an incredibly high percentage of students passing the South Carolina English II EOC. I also served as the Varsity Swim coach, where I designed and implemented practices and brought many athletes to states.In my current role, I teach English as a Second Language and English to a variety of students in English I, II, and III classes. I successfully manage and facilitate learning experiences for ESOL and multilingual students, tailoring instructional methods to accommodate diverse language backgrounds and proficiency levels. I also demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding when working with multilingual students, fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
