Caroline Wright is Director General of the British Educational Suppliers Association, the UK’s national industry association for educational products and services.Representing more than 400 companies covering all aspects of education resources BESA carries out financial and due diligence checks on all its members as well as requiring them to adhere to a rigorous code of conduct so that educationalists can be confident that they are working with the UK’s most trusted, quality educational suppliers. As well as working with leading UK suppliers BESA also runs EdTech Exchange, Europe’s largest EdTech Founders networking group.After an early career as a local and national journalist Caroline worked in a range of UK Civil Service departments leading communications directorates at the Department for Education, Ofsted, Partnerships for Schools, Cabinet Office and the Department of Trade and Industry. Caroline joined BESA in 2012. She represents BESA on a range of Government and sector advisory boards. She has held a range of positions sharing insights and expertise on the UK education suppliers sector including Co-Chair of the DfE EdTech Leadership Group, the Worlddidac Council, Education Investor Advisory Board, Patron of the Chingford Choir Foundation, and Trustee of the Education Media Centre, She is a judge of a number of industry awards including the Global EdTech Start-up Awards, the UK Trade Association Excellence Awards, Council of British International Schools Awards and Education Investor Awards.Caroline is a recipient of Education Investor’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to Education’ award and is a frequent contributor to charitable educational activities including roles as a school governor, educational and careers motivational speaker for schools and young people.Caroline is currently a member of the European Commission's Digital Education Content Stakeholder Consultation Group, Friend of the Windsor Leadership Trust, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and Inspiring Partnerships Programme mentor, school governor at Bishop Stopfords School, Enfield and holds a number of advisory board roles including the Open University & University of Lincoln's Protecting Girls from Online Harm research project, Oxford Internet Institute's 'Towards equity-focused approaches to EdTech research project, the Department for Business and Trade and Department for Education Education Sector Advisory Group, the DfE's data transformation working group, and the DfE working group on digital and technology standards working group.
