Site Leader, Intern

Chicago, Il

In addition to my full-time education I sought out an internship with Open Books because of their advocacy for literacy amongst young people. I found this to be an immensely fulfilling role, and is probably where my interest in working in publishing was first realised. My role required me to manage ten adult volunteers and twenty students, while being mainly responsible for maintaining helpful and meaningful relationships between the two. I also assessed each personality under my care to ensure each student was assigned to a complimentary reading partner from the pool of volunteers, which provided them with an enriching experience tailored to their needs.
