I never wanted to be a science teacher and when my district downsized in the early 1980's, I was quite upset to learn that I would transition from a fifth grade self-contained classroom to a junior high sixth grade science teacher! I never cared for science that much, and I took as little science as possible in high school and college. They say that "change is good" but you wouldn't have convinced me of that my first few years of teaching science. BUT.....here I am 31 years later with a passion for science teaching and a stronger passion for integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) into all 21st century classrooms. Go figure!My passion for science and STEM came from many years of participating in high-quality leadership programs, extended professional development institutes, NSF sponsored science workshops, and annual attendance at the NSTA National Conferences. All of these professional experiences focused on the pedagogical content required to establish an effective collaborative, inquiry-based science classroom environment. It is this knowledge that I bring into my business, Goode STEM Learning, as a STEM consultant, STEM science writer, and an e-Mentor.
