I explore how perception guides action and how cognitive control shapes sensory representation in biological and artificial systems.In my research, I use probabilistic models from statistics and machine learning, studying hierarchical information processing and decision making in brains and machines. I am fascinated by the unique ability of humans and animals to flexibly switch between a variety of different task-oriented behaviors, an ability still mostly lacking in artificial systems. With the aim to improve such systems and discover fundamental principles of the brain, I work on problems such as flexible information routing and tunable neural networks, multi-task and transfer learning as well as online and meta-learning. I enjoy collaborating with people and working in multidisciplinary and diverse environments. Outside of work I love traveling and learning new languages as well as dancing which has been a lifelong passion. I find balance to my career ambitions through running and yoga routines.
