As Executive Director of Voluntad, a comprehensive direct service provider to survivors of human trafficking, I have envisioned and overseen complete cultural and programmatic change and exponential growth over the last seven years. This has included driving a culture shift from a prescriptive, faith based, small residential program to a community based, grass roots, survivor informed program that prioritizes dignity, autonomy and self-determination. Today, Voluntad is the only service provider of its kind in Colorado and the surrounding area, and serves both foreign born and US citizens who have experienced the trauma of exploitation for labor or sex. Voluntad serves people from all over the world in a culturally competent, safe, trauma-informed, and confidential environment. We provide the highest level of evidence based services to clients, ensuring that client goals are identified and met. Voluntad is a data driven organization and tracks progress and change for every participant. Volunatd prioritizes relationship building and community partnerships, not only because it is important for our community to understand how societal systems support and enable human exploitation, but because Voluntad is an organization that always finds a way to empower individuals. That requires strong and healthy partnerships and a deep well of multi-layered resources.

Created and supervised the administration and data analysis of a statewide study regarding legal representation of children in Colorado. Facilitated a study group charged with reporting to the Colorado Supreme Court regarding these matters, which resulted in the creation of the Colorado Office of the Child’s Representative.
