Tourism development professional with wide ranging experience that includes national strategy planning, product development, brand development, and visitor experience design for tourism destinations and businesses around the world. I am passionate about taking a systems approach to tourism projects, tying these to broader community goals, whether that's food sovereignty, economic diversification, cultural revitalization, or something else entirely. Of particular interest to me are connections between land management, food systems, tourism, and healthy ecosystems.The relationship between people, place, and food is recurring theme in my academic, professional, and personal life. Through my work, I am keen to learn more about how agritourism can support sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, rural livelihoods, habitat conservation, cultural heritage preservation, and carbon sequestration.Like the field of tourism, my background is interdisciplinary. I recently completed an International Master in Wine Tourism, run jointly by universities in Spain, France, and Portugal. I also hold a Master’s in Urban & Regional Planning (sp. Environmental Planning) and an undergrad focussed on International Development and Environmental Studies.When working in tourism, every meal, trip, and conversation -whether on the job or off- is an opportunity to learn about creative approaches to tourism development, and I consistently apply these learnings to my professional projects. I have lived in Saudi Arabia, Panama, Mexico, Canada, Spain, France, and Portugal, and bring a global perspective to all my work. I also have a special affinity from Northern Canada from my time in the Yukon and the Cree Nation of Wemindji. I take great pleasure in working with the small business owners that make each destination unique and I am passionate about involving local communities in all project work. I know that collaborative and participatory approaches lead to stronger results and I am always happy to apply my French and Spanish language skills to support meaningful engagement.
