A passionate educator and leader, Caroline has focused her work on creating spaces for students to be recognized, empowered, and have equitable opportunities to thrive. She believes in creating communities that nurture young people to become stewards of their own learning, problem-solvers, and citizens who contribute to and take care of their communities. Caroline enjoys working with adults and has helped launch the careers of many teachers, coaches, and school leaders.At the beginning of her career, Caroline worked as a special education teacher where she developed a lasting commitment to ensure that all students had what they needed to be successful. As a mentor and coach, she helped other teachers learn to actively involve students in their own learning. She took this passion into her work as a school leader, creating school-wide systems and programs that created an environment where students had access to understanding their own data, which could assist in elevating their learning.As principal of Two Rivers Public Charter School, Caroline led a high-performing, in-demand charter school in Washington, DC for six years. She created a strong staff culture that resulted in a high-functioning community devoted to learning. She is especially proud of the way both adults and children embraced their own power as learners under her leadership.Caroline is transitioning out of school leadership at the end of the year and interested in opportunities to continue to support teachers and leaders as they strive to create dynamic, joyful, and equitable environments for students.
