Working remotely as an independent consultant for other businesses, developing services using mainly C++, Python, Boost, MySQL, OpenSSL, mostly for Linux platforms.

Continued as a member of the team in charge of the back-end systems of VIGIA, but this time as an independent consultant working remotely. Developed client-side services for the Handover Interface 1 (HI1) of Nokia’s LIG, Ericsson’s LIS, Huawei’s XPTU, BroadSoft’s BroadWorks Lawful Intercept Interface, Italtel’s i-MCS, Motorola’s Omicron CALEA Server, and server-side services for the HI2/HI3 of these vendors. Developed parsers for Motorola’s 2G iDEN billing files, Nextel’s 3G CDR, SIP/SDP/RTP, and for many ETSI standards (e.g. ES 201.671, 3GPP TS 33.108), most of them coded using ASN.1 and BER. Enhanced client-side provisioning and auditing of Cisco routers using SNMPv3 to manage cTap, ciscoTap2 and ciscoIPTap MIBs. Implemented clients for third-party web services using libcurl and Apache Xerces-C++. Participated in the development of an MLC solution for 2G/3G networks in compliance with 3GPP and OMA, offering an OMA MLP interface for integration with location-based services, supporting both standard and emergency location requests. The solution can interact with third-party GMLCs, or with PLMNs using Dialogic’s DSI SS7 Stack to send MAP messages (SRI, PSI and PSL) in order to locate subscribers in GSM and UMTS networks. Participated, also, in the development of an emergency gateway that, once connected to the operator’s SMSC through SMPP, receives all messages (SMS) sent to emergency services and tries to locate the subscriber, forwarding both the message and the location to a broker, which, then, redirects to the closest emergency service provider. The gateway can also receive calls to emergency services from an STP using Dialogic’s DSI SS7 Stack (INAP messages), forwarding the call information and location to the broker, which, then, redirects the information to the appropriate emergency service provider according to the number dialed by the subscriber. This gateway uses the MLC solution mentioned previously.

Developed a PHP Extension in C to collect statistics (wall time, memory usage, and CPU time) from each PHP request handled by Drupal. The metrics are reported to collectd (the system statistics collection daemon) using StatsD protocol.

Worked in Unified Charging’s maintenance team.

Member of a small team of developers fully in charge of the back-end systems of VIGIA, a lawful interception and data retention solution used by main telecommunication companies in Brazil. The systems involved data parsing, transforming, and filtering, as well as interfacing with network elements and third-party services, having in common high performance and high availability requirements. Among the used technologies were C++ and Python, ACE, Boost, CppUnit, Log4Cpp, Lua, OpenSSL and SQLite3 libraries, Google Test/Mock frameworks, SOAP (gSOAP Toolkit), Oracle database client, several network protocols, CMake, Eclipse IDE, MS Visual Studio, Linux and Windows operating systems.

Joined the Java development team in charge of hotel and insurance bookings in Amadeus front-end products.

Working for Amadeus as an IT consultant.

Led a seven-person outsourced team in the design and development of a cloud printing solution in cooperation with HP Barcelona, initially developed in Java and using Nuxeo as the CMS. Led a four-person team in charge of the maintenance of the HP Printer Utility (Windows version).

Led a five-person team in requirements definition, Scrum-style planning, design, development and quality assurance of a cross-platform printer management application, targeting cost reduction and user experience enhancements, replacing existing Mac OS X and Windows versions by a single solution developed using Adobe Flex/AIR, C/C++, SOAP and fluint library. Project was cancelled due to 2008 financial crisis.

Participated in the design and development of the HP Printer Utility (Windows version), a large format printer (network and USB-connected) management application, using C/C++, STL, Microsoft COM/ATL, SOAP, JavaScript, XHTML, XML, XSL/XSLT, IPv4/IPv6, Win32 API, CppUnit library, MS Visual Studio, Installshield and localization. Redesigned modules of this application using web services in C# to reinforce the benefits of an improved solution in terms of performance gain and user experience enhancements.
