My main objective is to define and drive a harmonized target shop floor architecture which supports standard global digital transformation solutions. This is mainly accomplished by working across SMEs, IT, and local operations sites to model and agree current and target state business and data architectures to be leveraged on a global scale.

Encouraged new digital solutions in production sites by engaging people and promoting new ways of working.

Managed the Driveline Graduate Program in Europe (a rotational development program), while also coordinating 5 additional graduate programs globally. During my time in the role I was able to condense all 6 graduate programs into one global program, with standard procedures and ways of working. During this role I also redefined our global E-learning strategy in order to encourage continuous learning for the new era of digital manufacturing and industry 4.

In this 6-month rotation, I supported suppliers in China that supply to our sites in Europe and America. I collaborated with suppliers to investigate and correct quality issues, while also developing suppliers using Lean and CI tools. During this time I also outlined and piloted a new standardized approach to Lean Supplier Development to be used across the organization.

In this rotation, I provided project management support for two large, strategic projects. Initially, I supported, and later project managed an organizational restructure to support a new product-based operational strategy. After having a baptism by fire, I was asked to stay in my role an extra 6 months to support the team during the transition period. I also became involved in several strategic HR projects across GKN globally, including project managing an initiative aiming to standardize recruitment and branding efforts globally.

In my first 6-month rotation, I worked with a development team on composite part production. I helped the team by composing technical procurement specifications for potential suppliers and being a part-time CAD engineer on the side to model tooling (in CATIA). Also, due to a passion for flowcharts I got very involved with the process flow for the future state production of the part and was able to outline the entire production process.

During my internship, my main role was to collaborate with other employees and Rockwell groups to complete Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA) and understand product anomalies. Beyond the day to day RCFAs, I analyzed return data metrics to understand long-term quality. I also automated some collation of return data metrics to enable my team to operate more efficiently after I had left.

The summer after my second year at University, I was selected for NSF-funded robotics research under the direction of Dr. Paul Scerri, Associate Research Professor at the Robotics Institute and President of Platypus LLC. During this period I worked with the Platypus LLC team on autonomous airboats which could be used for a variety of uses (environmental monitoring, etc). In my role, I created maps and models of Pittsburgh’s River systems so that we could compare the data collected from the airboats to the river's other environmental factors. I also worked with Riverquest (an educational organization) to conceive lesson plans for students to use to learn about both river ecology and robotics.
