As a non-traditional student with a track record of strategic leadership while serving in the military, I have observed and viewed the business curriculum with a practical mindset. With each new course, I focused on how I can apply these skills in the workplace to yield much more successful results for my organization. I thought back on previous initiatives and had the opportunity to implement my learning during my recent deployment to the benefit of my team and department. My military career has offered me many opportunities to expand my professional knowledge, leadership skills, and abilities. I believe strategic leadership is vital in aligning an organization's vision, planning, and execution of realistic company goals while facing internal and external environmental factors. I value practicing strategic leadership because it creates a pathway to the mission that companies and employees can envision. A strategy allows management to become more interpersonal with employees while setting realistic goals for employees to achieve, create motivation, and optimize production. Though I am mission oriented, I am also an intellectually curious individual who reflects on continuous improvement processes. Reflection on constant improvement allows me to observe my teams' progression and challenges, allowing us to make changes necessary to align our company's vision with realistic and attainable goals.
