Life has handed me a lemon 🍋 in the last month which has me thinking of my own brand of lemonade. I’ve been employed in the IT or software industry for 32 years. I have been fortunate to stumble into open doors 🚪 that have allowed me to continuously grow my repertoire of skills and experiences. In my journey with Home Depot I have had the pleasure of taking over a digital ant farm of 4K to 6k users working across both iOS and Android mobile platforms. My proudest accomplishment is partnering with the business. Essentially becoming their IT advocate. My role crosses many traditional boundaries as fitting for a senior resource. Unforeseen complications from a recent medical procedure have presented me with nerve damage that make it painful to sit at a desk all day like a good software gal should. Oddly enough joining Toastmasters last year may help me find a new direction. As this pandemic wears on our society is changing. We can see it in social media, consumer trends, and in corporate investment. I recently received some coaching that reiterated to me that my strengths lie in entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, and change. There’s a new role out there for me. It isn’t found in a tidy box 📦 of repetitive processes. It’s something new and bold. I’m sure I’ll have to learn something new. Is it AI? Product management? Solutions Architect? Enterprise Sales? Reality is that my lemon 🍋 is a challenge of limited duration. By my birthday 🎂 I should be healed. It’s time to rebuild my lemonade stand.
