Marketing, Communications & Csr DirectorBuyers Broker Jul 2013 - 2015Spain, Uk & IrelandBuyers Broker International is an organisation of house-hunters, property consultants and negotiators who work exclusively for property buyers and investors throughout Europe. Services are delivered through a network of licensed and regulated (in accordance with local rules and regulations) property professionals. We are regular contributors to property television, radio and print media throughout Europe with buyer-focused market commentary. My Role:• From my base in Spain, I continued writing the Irish Property Buyers' Handbook annual series (2011 to date) and contributing to industry media in Ireland, the UK and Spain.• I was responsible for developing and maintaining commercially productive relationships with SAREB (the Spanish NAMA equivalent), national banking institutions, insolvency practitioners and professional property firms on behalf of international investors.• My role involved introducing and promoting the brand to key players within the industry in Spain; identifying and generating new business opportunities for the company in a new environment.• CSR Initiative: Project RIPPLE In 2014 we brought together 65 companies and professionals from within the property industry for three days with one aim, to create the first fully-compliant shipping container home in the Republic of Ireland. The home was completed, using only donated time and materials, and subsequently donated to The Society for St. Vincent de Paul to house a family in crisis. RIPPLE is the subject of a television documentary 'Home'.www.BuyersBrokerInternational.com -
Managing DirectorBuyers Broker Ltd Jan 2006 - Jul 2013• This company was established in partnership, to provide representation to property buyers, similar to that offered to sellers by traditional estate agents. • As this was a new profession within the industry, at a time of huge upheaval in the marketplace, a large part of the role involved educating the market to suit our business development objectives.• This included building and maintaining relationships with (then newly-established) NAMA and other banking institutions and insolvency practitioners on behalf of investors in order to source investment opportunities.• The company was part of a professional property panel that came together to tender for and deliver advices in the area of social housing and emergency accommodation.• In 2013 I consulted with the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, under Junior Minister Jan O'Sullivan, in relation to unfinished developments nationwide. • By 2013, regulation of the industry failed to distinguish between the roles of buyers' and sellers' agents and our role morphed into a media one. Elements of the business (house-hunting television show and certain media and publication rights) were sold on to a UK-based media company.
