I am well trained in all aspects of teaching elementary students: literacy, technology, math, science and social studies. Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of a wide variety of students has always been "teaching as usual". Lesson planning to meet these needs was an ongoing learning process. Over the years with SWSD I had the opportunity to do it all, from creating class rotations for reading and unit studies, to being committee member for report card design. I participated for several years on the committee for Teachers helping Teachers, and represented my grade level as team leader at school council meetings. Since entering the international school domaine, I have adapted to new and challenging teaching situations. I discovered that I love change, thrive in new communities of colleagues, and enjoy learning! Teaching students in Myanmar has set me on a new course of teaching English as an additional language, and I love it.

I began with South Whidbey School District as a Special Education teacher, a continuation of my previous 8 years as a Special Ed Teacher for Northshore School District (Bothell, Washington). I set up the classroom, developed individual and small group instructional programs, oversaw an Assistant, Parent Volunteers and occasional student teachers in a Resource Room for Primary youngsters, Kindergarten thru 5th grades.
