To feed a growing population and solve the climate crisis, it is critical to reduce methane output from livestock while improving yields. Our mission is to help farmers feed more people at lower economic and environmental cost. We are designing a feed additive that targets microbes found in rumen so that the animal can redirect energy away from methane production and towards meat and milk production. I am working on fundraising, communications, regulatory strategy, and some of the general business of a startup.

I am working with Seerave and its network of oncologists, clinical researchers, microbiologists and patient advocates to develop practical, evidence-based tools and practices that reflect our latest understanding of the role of the microbiome in cancer care.

After handing over the reins at OpenBiome, I spent a very special year+ with our newborn twins before returning to professional life.

In 2013, I co-founded OpenBiome, the first universal stool bank -- like a blood bank, but for microbes found in human stool -- to lay the groundwork for new treatments that use the bacteria in our guts to fight or prevent disease. We provide clinicians with microbiota preparations to treat C. difficile, the most common hospital-acquired infection in the U.S. We also partner with clinical researchers investigating the causal links between our gut microbiome and our health. OpenBiome has provided more than 70,000 treatments and grown to redefine the standard of care for patients fighting C. difficile, and supported more than 30 clinical trials to drive breakthrough discoveries in autoimmune, metabolic, and infectious disease.

As part of the founding team, I oversee OpenBiome's efforts to expand the availability of FMT within and beyond the US, present its work to the public, and contribute to the discourse on the regulation of fecal microbiota.

USAID's DIV program is an open competition supporting breakthrough solutions to the world's most intractable development challenges. At DIV, I worked on reaching new audiences and attracting a broad and diverse pool of applicants, and helped launch the Global Innovation Fund, a $200 million platform to test and support low-cost, high-impact interventions to improve global health and prosperity.
