• Performed mechanical testing on human feet and fish fins to explore how their arched structure contributes to their structural properties. • Managed interdisciplinary teams in engineering, biology, orthopaedic surgery to organize, budget, and execute a large collaborative experiment.

• Led a team of scientists to complete projects on time and managed grant-funded research, which helped principal investigator obtain a renewal of a million-dollar research grant.• Supervised student projects, mentored undergraduate and graduate students, and coordinated laboratory-wide meetings.• Used innovative techniques including mathematical modeling, 3D fluoroscopy, and surgically implanted transducer devices in turkey and frog models to provide important insights into how muscles change shape and discovered a novel way that muscles store and recover elastic energy, making movement more efficient.

• Performed a focused, cutting edge investigation of the integrated function of skeletal elements, muscles, and elastic connective tissues in the lower limb to create more accurate biomechanical models of movement, and advance the scientific understanding of how body forces and movements change with injury, age, and disease.• Used novel in vivo techniques using surgically implanted transducers and developed new animal models in goats and guinea fowl to explore fascia function, providing the first in vivo evidence that fascia can be stretched by muscles to store elastic energy.

I was a teaching fellow (TF) for Life Sciences 2: Anatomy and Physiology. In fall 2009, I was a TF for Organismic and Evolutionary Biology 139: Evolution of Vertebrates and in spring 2010 was a TF for Human Evolutionary Biology 1420: Human Evolutionary Anatomy.

• Performed a detailed anatomical study of 48 human cadaveric limbs. • Created a widely accessible database of human muscle architecture data that has been cited in over 450 publications by the biomechanics community.• Streamlined data collection and analysis techniques to improve efficiency and ensure grant deadlines were met.
