As a JSEP Fellow, I received training in cross-cultural science communication in the Arctic, developed an accessible teaching module focusing on cold-loving microbes in Greenland as an analog for astrobiology on Mars, and spent 3 weeks teaching a diverse cohort of high school and undergraduate students in Greenland. Through this experience, I increased my capacity for designing and implementing broader impacts related to my research and developed an interdisciplinary view of polar regions and their importance to global environmental change.

As a Data Science Engineer with the DIFUSE program, I worked with a team of professors and undergraduate interns to develop data science modules that integrate into existing course curriculum for introductory astronomy courses. Directed a week-long immersive science program for local K-12 students in a remote Inupiat village; coordinated schedules of 2 master teachers and 5 scientist volunteers; creating accessible and inclusive STEM educational materials and resources focusing on animal adaptations to the Arctic environment.
