Program Faculty: Texas State University- Program Coordinator for the South Texas Doctoral Bridge program, an NIH-funded Bridge to Doctorate Training Program. Works in collaboration with the principal investigators, leading programmatic needs of the training program at Texas State University.- Program Coordinator for the Texas State U-RISE Program, a NIH-funded Bridge to Doctorate Training Program. Works in collaboration with the principal investigators and institutional administration, leading programmatic needs of the training program at Texas State University and increasing program impact across campus.- Lecturer, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (teaching CHEM 5395 Fundamentals of Research)- Lecturer, University College (teaching US1100 for the STEM Learning Community)

• USDA-sponsored project: elucidating protein interactions and mechanisms-of-action involved in the bacterial virulence of a channel catfish bacterial pathogen.• ACHIEVEMENTS: co-principal investigator on a USDA NIFA Foundational award; session chair at international conference; developed data for 3 manuscripts; trained and mentored doctoral students.• SKILLS DEMONSTRATED: literature research, AMA writing style, grant writing, grant submission, experimental design, data collection, data analysis, project management; generating slide decks, generating data tables and figures; assisted in the writing and preparation of IACUC protocols and reports; ; technical skills: microbiology, molecular techniques, cell culture, protein assays, in vitro/in vivo experiments, statistics.

• NIH-sponsored project: disease ecology of mycobacterial infections in laboratory zebrafish: controlling disease through biosecurity risk assessment, prevention, and treatment.• ACHIEVEMENTS: publication of thesis/dissertation; awarded national scholarship for doctoral research; multiple award winning oral and poster presentations; developed data for five manuscripts; published 4 first-author manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals; trained and mentored 7 undergraduate students and 3 technicians, assisted in the writing and preparation of IACUC protocols and reports, managed laboratory fish facility.• SKILLS DEMONSTRATED: literature research, data collection and organization, data analysis, project management, fish facility management, SOP writing/implementing, slide deck generation, table and figure generation, oral presentation skills; technical skills: microbiology, molecular bacteriology, molecular diagnostics, in vivo experiments, statistics.

• National Sciences Engineering and Research Council of Canada (NSERC) – sponsored project: Inflammation-associated gene expression in murine macrophages induced by toxins from fungi common on damp building• ACHIEVEMENTS: Completed project in aggressive 4-month timeline: developed data for manuscript; published 1 second-author manuscript in peer-reviewed journals.• • SKILLS DEMONSTRATED: literature research, data collection and organization, data analysis, project management, table and figure generation, oral presentation skills, technical skills: in vitro experiments, ELISA, murine cell culture, statistics.

• Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) – sponsored project: development of the craniofacial skeleton of zebrafish, including relationships between the bones of the skull and the nerves.• ACHIEVEMENTS: publication of thesis/dissertation; developed data for two manuscripts; published 2 first-author manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals; trained and mentored 1 undergraduate students, co-managed laboratory fish facility.• SKILLS DEMONSTRATED: literature research, AMA writing style, dissertation and grant writing, peer-reviewed publication writing/editing/submitting/revising/response to reviewer, data collection and organization, data analysis, project management, fish facility management, assisted in the writing and preparation of IACUC protocols and reports, SOP writing/implementing, slide deck generation, table and figure generation, oral presentation skills, technical skills: histology, in vivo experiments, specimen preservation and staining, statistics.
