As a strategy consultant at Monitor Company (now Monitor/Deloitte), I worked with leaders of Fortune 100 and 500 companies across industries, as well as fast-growing, high-performing nonprofit organizations, to hone their strategic intention. Because having a winning strategy is necessary, but insufficient for success, my clients were quick to inquire what kind of leadership, organizational structures, and culture were necessary to implement the strategy. I shifted my professional focus to address these very questions, which leaders are constantly wrestling with, as they lead in dynamic, complex external and internal contexts.
