I have always had an interest in understanding the world around me and how things work, especially from a mechanical perspective. This 3D view of the world around me has propelled my studies and interests which continues to guide me to this day. While in middle and high school I started robotics clubs, excelled in physics, and decided to study mechanical engineering. My interests led me to unique programs such as Seeds of Change. This program provided me with two weeks in Costa Rica, designing my own research project which centered around using a native spider to repel leaf cutter ants as an organic pesticide. After I graduated high school my drive for understanding the world around me took me to the University of Vermont (UVM). Upon arriving I quickly became involved in the mechanical engineering program as well as the rock climbing club. My mechanical engineering interests led me to an internship with North American Rescue (NAR) where I managed the 3D printer room and rapid prototyping. At NAR I got the opportunity to design and lead projects as well as manage a team centered around improving prototyping capabilities. My interest in climbing and the outdoors guided me to an internship with UVM’s outdoor programs. I worked as one of two logistics coordinator for the Trek team, organizing and managing 30 outdoor trips, leaving at one time. My time at UVM has also allowed me to connect with the community. I am an instructor at MetroRock Climbing gym, and was a Resident Advisor within UVM for 2 years. I am the vice president of the climbing club, and the manager of the competitive climbing team.Understanding how the world around me interacts has allowed me to flourish individually, academically, and professionally. I hope to take my skills as a mechanical engineer as well as my experiences to a career that is able to incorporate both into the work I do. If you are hiring, please contact me.
