The mission of the design team is to support the communication infrastructure business both at RF and microwaves.Project Leader in the development of a power amplifier product family addressing the cellular base-station market, job tasks including:• Definition of the product specification.• Architecture choice.• Design of the RF path and power management circuit blocks.• Package choice and pinout definition.• Layout of critical building blocks and overall silicon floorplan.• Customization of existing ESD silicon IPs for use in PA application.• Experimental characterization.• Technical coordination of the design/layout resources involved.

In charge for the technical management of the following research contracts between the DIEES and STMicroelectronics:• "High-efficiency RF-DC power converters for energy harvesting in wireless sensor networks" from July 2008 to Aug. 2009.• "Batteryless RF front-end RF for wireless sensor networks" from Apr. 2010 to present.Responsible for the design and characterization of ultra-low-power RF circuits for sub-GHz low-data-rate applications, namely the RX section of a 400-MHz CMOS front-end for medical implantable applications and the TX section of a 300–960-MHz radio for wireless sensor networks.In charge for the technical development and program management of the following EU and national funded research projects (involvement spanning from proposal submission through project implementation):• "Complementary Organic Semiconductors and Metal Integrated Circuits (COSMIC)". Research project funded by the EC under FP7, form Jan. 2010 to Dec. 2013.• "Network of Excellence for Building Up Knowledge for Improved Systems Integration for Flexible Organic and Large Area Electronics and its Exploitation (FlexNet)". NoE funded by the EC under FP7, from Jan. 2010 to Dec. 2012.• "Models, Solutions, Methods and Tools for Energy-Aware Design (END)". Research project funded by the ENIAC Joint Undertaking, from Apr. 2010 to Mar. 2013.• "Laboratorio Pubblico-Privato per lo Sviluppo di Tecnologie di Processo e Dimostratori di Circuiti Elettronici ad Alte Prestazioni e Basso Costo di Fabbricazione Realizzati su Substrati Plastici (PLAST_ICs)". Research project funded by Italian MIUR, from Jan. 2006 to Dec. 2009.Mentoring responsibilities with several graduate and Ph.D. students performing research for their final year dissertation.Long-term engagement (since 2001) in supportive teaching tasks including lessons, practice sessions, specialized seminars, and final examinations, for graduate and undergraduate courses on analog microelectronics at baseband and RF.

In charge for the technical management of the following research contracts between the DIEES and STMicroelectronics:• "Design and characterization of CMOS power amplifiers for wireless communications" from Aug. 2005 to July 2006.• "Highly integrated solutions for efficient and reconfigurable CMOS RF power amplifiers" from Jan. 2007 to Jan. 2008.as well as a research contract on the "Development of an ultra-wideband radio transceiver" between the DIEES and Multicom s.r.l., Caltanissetta, Italy, from Sept. 2007 to Mar. 2008.Contribution to the technical development EU and national funded research projects.Mentoring of graduate / Ph.D. students and supportive teaching duties (see above).

Teaching activity within the Postgraduate Master Course on Plastic Elecronics (Master Universitario di II Livello in Progettazione di Sistemi Elettronici Integrati su Substrati Polimerici) during academic year 2007-2008. Held classes on:• CAD Software for Electronic Circuits and Systems (Progettazione di circuiti e sistemi elettronici mediante software CAD).• Integrated Circuit Design (Tecniche di progettazione di circuiti integrati).• Telecommunication Electronics (Elettronica per i sistemi di trasmissione wireless).Also contributed to the management of the Master Course through involvement in the admission and final examination committees.The Scuola Superiore di Catania is a university institution for higher education, whose mission is to develop the skills of selected students enrolled at the University of Catania through integrative courses and early research initiation (www.scuolasuperiorecatania.it).
