I also collaborated with an interdisciplinary committee to address Leapfrog Inpatient Surgery Criteria and patient harm reduction related to surgical complications, contributed to the selection of new products as a clinical resource to the Perioperative Services value analysis team, coordinated education and training on new equipment and supplies with staff and physicians, implemented a revised orientation program for new hire staff nurses and collaborated with the Nursing Education Department to integrate perioperative nursing into the nurse residency program, led crew resource management training and consulted with Staff Development leaders on potential ways to improve course delivery, and revised operating room policies and procedures and coordinated related education with staff and physicians.

At UMCNO I developed, designed, and implemented structured orientation programs for surgical technologists and nurses, coordinated education and training on new equipment, supplies, and processes related to opening a new hospital, collaborated with department leadership to develop new operating room policies and procedures, and revised existing policies to meet current standards of practice. I also supported implementation of operating room quality and patient safety goals, policies, procedures, and activities designed to meet the requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Note: University Medical Center New Orleans is the former Interim LSU Hospital.
