In the position of Director, Assessment Operations, I lead the operations in the development of standards-based items and assessments using Evidence-Centered Design and Universal Design for Learning for New Meridian. Custom assessment development includes summative and non-summative assessments to be delivered in either an online or paper/pencil format. I work collaboratively with psychometricians and other stakeholders across New Meridian, State Department of Education, and vendor leaderships on all aspects of assessment design and development.

In the position of Director, Assessment Development, I led the design and development of assessments using Evidence-Centered Design across the entire Edmentum product portfolio, including embedded formative assessments, benchmark assessments, performance tasks, screener/diagnostic assessments in both a computer adaptive and fixed form environment. I collaborated with leaders across the organization to continuously grow the organization in the area of assessment design and development. also supported the Sales and Services teams by conducting training sessions on new assessment designs, meeting with customers both virtually and face-to-face.

In the position of Senior Manager of Test Development, I lead the test development of the Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Early Learning products for NWEA. I matrix with other managers in the organization to continuously grow the organization in the area of assessment. I also meet with partners and prospective partners to discuss NWEA assessment products from a content and consortia perspective.

In the position of Senior Advisor for PARCC Mathematics, my main focus is to bring state education leaders together to come to a consensus around math content and policy. In this role, I lead the development of the PARCC mathematics assessment system based on the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics and manage the mathematics operational working group comprised of 20 state math assessment and curriculum staff across the PARCC States. The assessment system includes the performance-based assessment, end of year assessment, as well as a mid-year and diagnostic assessment for grades 3 - 11. As part of this development, I have been responsible for development of the PARCC performance level descriptors, forms and item specifications, preliminary scoring rubrics, preliminary diagnostic assessment designs and items for PARCC item releases. As part of my responsibilities, I have presented on national and local levels on behalf of PARCC Mathematics.

In the position of Mathematics Content Specialist, my responsibilities include reviewing mathematics test items for content validity, bias/sensitivity, grade-level appropriateness, as well as writing item specifications to send to outside item writers for fulfillment. I was also involved with writing items for specific content needs reflected in various state standards, client curriculum documents and the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. I also developed and presented professional development training materials for item writing workshops that included trainings on Universal Design and Cognitive Complexity.

In the position of School Test Coordinator, my responsibilities included working closely with the district testing office to coordinate federal, state, and county-mandated assessments for an assigned high school. I worked collaboratively with multiple content, guidance, special education departments, and the administrative staff within the high school. I analyzed school and student testing data for each test administration. I adhered to and complied with all Board of Education policies and regulations regarding the Code of Ethics, COMAR, student participation, exemptions, accommodations, test security policies and procedures, test materials, accountability, and any other related testing matters. I conducted school-based in-service trainings for upcoming test administrations (paper pencil and online versions) and data analysis. I also coordinated the school-based Bridge Plan for graduating seniors that are still in need of meeting the high school assessment requirement for graduation and was a member of the county level Bridge Plan Review Panel for scoring these projects.

In the position of Senior Math Test Development Specialist, my responsibilities included extensive test item, test form, and test specification development for grades 3 through 8, high school and alternate assessments for multiple state assessment programs. I was also the math lead in the development, review, and alignment of multiple choice and constructed response items in accordance with multiple state standards as well as item pool management and data analysis before and during item and form development. As a Senior Math Test Development Specialist, I also facilitated committee meetings with the client as part of the test item and test form review process. In the position of Item Development Manager, my responsibilities included managing all aspects of item development for all content areas for grades 3 through 8 and high school. As the Item Development Manager, I created and delivered presentations on key areas of the item development process to State Board of Education committee members and regularly met with executive staff, State Board of Education Assessment and Content Specialists, as well as the AIR content teams. In this position, I was also responsible for managing all of the content area leads for a specific state project.

During my tenure with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, I was involved with a variety of projects. AACPS adopted the use of Project Management Charters to organize and oversee the various facets of the district. I was a member of two of these charters: the Mathematics Project Management Charter and the Instructional Support and Accountability Charter. I participated in a district level Graduation Requirements Review Committee to review and recommend to the Board of Education an increase in graduation requirement credits. As Department Chair, I assisted teachers that were placed on a plan of action by observing and modeling lessons. As the Acting Middle School Math Resource teacher, I spent much time developing and scoring district-wide assessments for grades 6 through 8 that were aligned with Maryland State Department of Education’s Voluntary State Curriculum. I was also a model instructor during the 2004 Mathematics Summer Academy. In addition, I attended the Maryland Assessment Groups annual conference as a participant to learn about the latest trends and research in Assessment and served on the Maryland State Department of Education Standards Setting Committee.
