In this role, I lead the development of the PARCC mathematics assessment system based on the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics and manage the mathematics operational working group comprised of 20 state math assessment and curriculum staff across the PARCC States. The assessment system includes the performance-based assessment, end of year assessment, as well as a mid-year and diagnostic assessment for grades 3 - 11. As part of this development, I have been responsible for development of the PARCC performance level descriptors, forms and item specifications, preliminary scoring rubrics, preliminary diagnostic assessment designs and items for PARCC item releases. As part of my responsibilities, I have presented on national and local levels on behalf of PARCC Mathematics.

I was also the math lead in the development, review, and alignment of multiple choice and constructed response items in accordance with multiple state standards as well as item pool management and data analysis before and during item and form development. As a Senior Math Test Development Specialist, I also facilitated committee meetings with the client as part of the test item and test form review process. In the position of Item Development Manager, my responsibilities included managing all aspects of item development for all content areas for grades 3 through 8 and high school. As the Item Development Manager, I created and delivered presentations on key areas of the item development process to State Board of Education committee members and regularly met with executive staff, State Board of Education Assessment and Content Specialists, as well as the AIR content teams. In this position, I was also responsible for managing all of the content area leads for a specific state project.
Math Department Chair And Teacher
During my tenure with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, I was involved with a variety of projects. AACPS adopted the use of Project Management Charters to organize and oversee the various facets of the district. I was a member of two of these charters: the Mathematics Project Management Charter and the Instructional Support and Accountability Charter. I participated in a district level Graduation Requirements Review Committee to review and recommend to the Board of Education an increase in graduation requirement credits. As Department Chair, I assisted teachers that were placed on a plan of action by observing and modeling lessons. As the Acting Middle School Math Resource teacher, I spent much time developing and scoring district-wide assessments for grades 6 through 8 that were aligned with Maryland State Department of Education’s Voluntary State Curriculum. I was also a model instructor during the 2004 Mathematics Summer Academy. In addition, I attended the Maryland Assessment Groups annual conference as a participant to learn about the latest trends and research in Assessment and served on the Maryland State Department of Education Standards Setting Committee.
