Director of Publications & Magazine Editor (1999 to 2006)• Oversee the design of association’s annual print publications, including at least two 200+ page directories, two annual reports, member magazine, association newsletters, brochures, and conference programs. • Play integral role in helping association communicate messages to existing members as well as recruit new members.• Partner closely with leadership to gather requirements, visually and verbally translate concepts, develop layouts, edit, and select colors and materials for final product.• Coordinate with other communications and publications firms to ensure accurate, updated information.• Interview, hire, manage, and retain seasonal interns.• Save association money by minimizing the number of changes needed during proofing stages.• Manage and prioritize multiple projects, respecting various budgets and timelines. • Projects of note include:►Lead marketing and publishing efforts for 100th Anniversary celebration including dedicated magazine articles, videos, advertisements, and conferences, culminating in a gala dinner at the Reagan Building.►Layout and edit association magazine, Transportation Builder (6-10 issues a year), distributed to 8K members.►Layout complex economic reports for multiple states and coordinate the layout of detailed 130+ page industry salary survey. ►Collaborate with economics team to create a uniform template for department reports.►Layout and proofread 100+ page publication, “America’s Top 100 Private Sector Transportation Design and Construction Professionals of the 20th Century”. ►Manage marketing for Top 100 Gala Dinner and Reception including design and printing of invitations, layout of dinner program, and supervision of video production.
