Carrie Edge is a new counselor on the team at Enlightening Streams Guidance and Counseling Center in Rome, Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Psychology in 1998 from the University of Louisville and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2023 from Liberty University. During her master's studies, she concentrated on gerontological counseling and treating trauma, grief, and acute stress.Carrie has been married to her high school sweetheart for 24 years. They have five children and two grandchildren. Carrie has an eclectic background. She has served the community as a youth development professional, nonprofit leader, certified personal trainer and sports coach, and law enforcement officer. She also has more than 5 years of experience working with individuals with serious mental illness through psychosocial rehabilitation and in a clinical setting. Carrie is the mother of a young adult living with autism spectrum disorder (#asd ). Her personal experience led her to become certified with the State of Georgia as a Certified Peer Support- Parent. With this certification, she helps families navigate the system of care for their children. She has been under the supervision of Alice Williams since January 2024. Carrie is certified to see clients by telehealth and of course, loves to connect in person.  Carrie finds joy in working with people at every age and stage of life.  She specializes in Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is currently learning the modality of Emotionally Focused Therapy. She has experience supporting those experiencing trauma, disordered eating, grief, marital/ family challenges, anxiety, and depression.Carrie is also a capable and proven leader able to build and guide large teams towards the accomplishment of common goals.  Excellent public speaker with professional mentoring and training experience.  Motivated, innovative, and results-oriented powerhouse with a passion for partnership development.
