Phoenix Rising, a Virginia Benefit Corporation, exists as a resource for survivors of significant life events. Phoenix Rising provides a learning environment based on a coaching model that helps survivors use their courage and creativity to overcome their grief.

Carrie Rodenhizer began training on March 2010 in all of the martial arts disciplines available at that time.
