Have been approved as a vendor with OSCA to transcribe hearings. Very exciting for me to have this experience to look forward to after leaving my full time job at the Division.

I am responsible not only for the reporting of hearings and the transcription of testimony taken at hearings should a case be appealed, I am also responsible for the correspondence and any other special assignments assigned me by the Director of the Division of Workers' Compensation or assigned me by any of our four administrative law judges. I have also been involved in many special projects when our computer system has been in a "change mode." I have been involved with several special projects that pertain to court reporters' duties and in training reporters in our outside offices thoughout the state before the changes take effect. Another reporter in my office has been involved in an exciting change in how we handle the exhibits in cases on appeal and it will be a great time saver for all of us. She's done a wonderful job piloting this project for us.

I would take assignments from this company to travel to different law offices and/or court houses and other places to take verbatim notes and then to transcribe same into transcript form for all parties to a case. I was responsible for getting these depositions and/or court hearings transcribed in a timely manner. The owner of the company would do the billing and collecting of payments for this service and would pay me every two weeks. This was a highly-technical position. I was required to own my own equipment and to keep current on software and hardware updates.

I was responsible for keeping all files in order for the Court of Appeals, for filing correspondence into these files, for transporting files to specific judges assigned to those files that are ready for oral argument and/or review by our judges. This was a part-time position I held during two years of my schooling at the business college.
