I love helping people discover their strengths and find meaning and purpose in their lives. I'm deeply committed to the promotion of well-being and belonging in the workplace, and I have a particular interest and extensive background in building engaged teams, facilitating groups, training managers, as well as counseling and coaching students and professionals. My specialties are taking on new challenges, collaborating with others, and seeing what "might be" instead of "what is" for people and programs. As a Gallup-certified strengths coach, I adopt a strengths-based approach to everything I do. In my role at the MU Career Center, I take a holistic approach to career development, for our employees as well as customers and campus overall. I have worked to create a growth-oriented environment for the nearly 30 peer career advisors and career counselors that report to me by helping them develop personally and professionally through ongoing feedback, hands-on experiences, and leadership opportunities. Additionally, I have worked to expand the scope and effectiveness of our services by developing innovative approaches, such as "train the trainer" workshops through the creation of the MU Career Development Network, well-being initiatives, and collaborative programming with social justice centers on campus. My background in higher education, career development, leadership, counseling, coaching, business, and program creation/administration have helped me to develop and hone a variety of skills, which I focus primarily on helping people develop themselves as they lead people and organizations. I love working to inspire purpose in others as well as bringing enthusiasm and positivity to what I do every day.
