Working with the to maintain and update legacy applications of Army Human Resources Command using various Java and Java Swing programming tools and processes. Also worked to develop and maintain various database functions, scripts, stored procedures, and solutions on various Army HRC applications.

Worked with the Customs and Border Protection – Office of Professional Responsibility to maintain and update the Java-based applications within the in-house Cornerstone suite of tools. CBP created the Cornerstone information management system to automate and manage the background investigation (BI) process for CBP employees, contractors, and applicants. Cornerstone facilitates the BI process by retrieving, compiling, and distributing information between several information systems during the BI process. Operations and Management services were also provided by my team and myself following the launch of each application.

Worked with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program of Customs and Border Patrol to migrate the various interfaces within the Student and Exchange Visitor Program from proprietary, in-house systems to modular and easily modifiable API-based architecture using the Mulesoft Platform. Automated Jenkins scripts were implemented to insure around the clock operation and launching of the SEVIS/SEVP platform on a day to day basis. Log monitoring was also added to be integrated within Splunk to allow for error monitoring around the clock. Operations and Management services were also provided by my team and myself following the launch of the modernized platforms in July of 2018.

Working as a software debugger and tester, I worked with my fellow teammates to test various software stability and security testing tools that were packaged into a toolset known as the Software Assurance Marketplace or SWAMP. SWAMP is a compilation of software security tools that were developed by the Department of Homeland Security as a means to lower software vulnerabilities. After learning how to utilize the toolset, I then worked to teach the use of the tool along with various secure programming practices to students taking introductory programming classes at Bowie State University.

Working as the lead programmer, I was tasked with programming a scanning tool to attempt to establish a secure connection with a website within the .gov domain. If a secure connection could be established If a secure connection was available (or the tool was redirected to a secure service), the tool obtained the SSL/TLS certificate version, X.509 certificate and other certificate information associated with the web site. Once the list was processed, the collected certificates were analyzed and statistics were compiled such as the number and names of major certificate authorities used, the algorithm and key length stored in the certificate as well as relevant X.509 header fields. From this data, an assessment was drawn on the state of SSL/TLS implementation within the regions of the United States.

Working as the lead programmer, I was tasked with programming a standardized cross-platform implementation of the Kerberos network authentication protocol. This network protocol allows secure user authentication across an insecure computer network without needing to completely overhaul a currently existing network. While development is still currently on going, I was able to develop a fully functional prototype implementation for several Linux distributions and Mac OS X.

Working as a mentor to various high school students, I lead the programming and development of an online equipment allocation system for Prince George’s County while teaching the students the rudiments of multiple programming languages. The system was created using PHP, HTML 5, and a MySQL database and was created to protect against multiple security concerns such as SQL Injections and XSS attacks.
