    Aurora Youth Options (AYO) is a branch within Aurora Mental Health that is also a prevention program for middle and high school youth that connects youth and families to resources within the community. Within my current role as a Mentor, I enroll 6th-10th grade youth into AYO's one-to-one mentoring program that are in need of a volunteer mentor. Through the enrollment process, I conduct youth interviews and training covering guidelines and expectations within the mentoring relationship. Once a youth has been match with a compatible mentor, I then provide on-going support to the match to make sure that the mentor-mentee relationship is healthy and safe. In addition to my role, I have also developed and currently lead AYO's Group Mentoring program. Group Mentoring gives male youth the opportunity to connect with other peers and engage in an intimate space with a trusted AYO staff to talk about life skills through on-going group discussion and activities. I also currently lead AYO's Job Shadowing program and collaborate with 'Zero Dropouts' and 'Junior Achievement' in equipping youth and families with the fundamental skills needed to get and keep a job.
