Currently I'm an Partner in Barnes & Thornburg’s Columbus, Ohio, office and a member of the Real Estate Department and the Community Development & Tax Credit Finance practice group with a focus on community and economic development, including low-income housing tax credits, new market tax credits and historic-rehabilitation tax credits, commercial leasing and general real estate matters.I represent syndicators, investors, funds, financial institutions and developers in the acquisition, financing, asset management, sale and disposition of interests in real estate developments, as well as in the acquisition of equity interests in low-income housing tax credit and historic-rehabilitation tax credit projects. These transactions frequently involve a variety of funding sources, such as traditional construction and permanent loans, state and federal tax credits, equity, HUD- and USDA Rural Development-insured loan products, tax-exempt and taxable bonds, Section 8 and USDA Rental Assistance subsidies, RAD conversions, non-profit and governmental grants, and a variety of state and local loan programs. I also represent developers and operating companies in various matters including property acquisitions and dispositions, financing and refinancing real property and equipment, obtaining and granting easements and the negotiation of commercial leases and subleases on behalf of tenants and landlords.After graduating from Ohio University with a B.B.A, magna cum laude, I earned my J.D., summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law where I was a member of the Order of the Coif and associate editor for the Ohio State Law Journal.For purposes of applicable lawyer ethics rules, this may constitute attorney advertising.
