In July of 2017 I joined the Johns Beach Service Team. In addition to guarding our waters, lifeguards are responsible for the rental of chairs and umbrellas, beach cleanliness, and responding to any beach situations. I was not only an Ocean Lifeguard but also a member of their Emergency Response Team.

I worked at Bolton Pool (the largest pool in Winston-Salem) where along side of other professionals we maintained a safe and friendly environment for the residents of the city. Part of this job includes working as a cashier. Each lifeguard also goes through in-service training and is taught the policies and procedures of the Recreation and Parks Department. Certifications include: Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED training. Skills are practiced, observed, and evaluated to maintain the high standards required by the Aquatics Program. I began this job as a Senior Lifeguard and worked my way into a leadership position as an Assistant Manger. While I was a part of the Bolton Pool staff, I also worked as the Head Swim Coach where we built teamwork, a sense of family, and worked to improve the aquatic abilities of children ages 6-18.

Responsibilities include opening the pool, signing in members and collecting guest fees, selling concessions at the snack bar, restocking concessions, maintaining a clean and safe environment for families and closing the pool at night. As an Assistant Coach I attended swim practice for two hours at a time, twice a day, Monday through Friday. Attended regular meetings with other coaches. Instructed children ages 18 and under. Compiled "heat sheets" for swim meets and time trials. Attended and set up for swim meets and lined up children in the correct lanes. Led cheers and provided a positive attitude. Received the "Head Coaches Award" multiple times for hard work and dedication.
